Mumbai: Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the fifth accused in the firing incident at Bandra residence of actor Salman Khan, news agency ANI reported on Thursday.
The arrested, identified as Mohammad Rafiq Chaudhary, was nabbed from Rajasthan on Monday.
According to the police, Rafiq had also done recce outside the houses of two other actors apart from Salman Khan’s. He had shot a video of Salman’s house and sent it to gangster Anmol Bishnoi. “The shooters, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, were apprehensive about carrying out the firing until Bishnoi reassured them that they would gain virtue by completing the task. Further investigation is underway in recce outside the houses of two more actors,” The Week quoted police as saying.
The case pertains to April 14 incident when two motorbike-borne men fired at Galaxy Apartment in Bandra. Four persons were earlier arrested in connection with the incident and one among them, Anuj Thanpan, died by suicide in police custody.
Mumbai Police had arrested Thapan along with another accused, Sonu Subhash Chander (37), from Punjab on April 25 while Gupta (24),and Pal (21), both residents of Bihar, were apprehended from Kutch on April 16,
Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had claimed responsibility for the firing through a Facebook post.
