Bhubaneswar: General manager of a star hotel in Odisha capital deposed before the CBI in connection with the bribery allegation against Chanchal Kumar Mukherjee, group general manager of PSU Bridge and Roof Co (India) Ltd.
According to sources, the hotel’s general manager was summoned since Mukherjee held a meeting with a private company’s director, Santosh Moharana, and another middleman, Devadutta Mahapatra, at the hotel before being rounded up during the exchange of Rs 10 lakh bribe for tender allotments.
On Sunday, CBI again searched the premises of the PSU’s office here and questioned some of the employees. Bhubaneswar:
Senior IAS officer and principal secretary in the SC/ST welfare and Odisha language department, Bishnupada Sethi, who was also asked to join the investigation, has reportedly sought more time to appear before the CBI’s investigating officer. The agency believes he was acquainted with some important and relevant circumstances of the bribery case.
The ST and SC development department recently assigned projects for the upgrade of Ashram schools to high schools and high schools to higher secondary schools and others to some PSUs, including Bridge and Roof Co.
