Mangalu Charan Biswal, Eminent Litterateur & Sambalpuri Playwright, Passes Away In Odisha At 87

Sambalpur: Eminent litterateur, teacher, writer, poet and noted playwright Mangalu Charan Biswal passed away on Tuesday. He was 87.

The critically acclaimed film Bhukha was based on a Sambalpuri play written by him. The 1989 film, directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra, was the first film from Odisha to get an International Jury Award at the Gijón International Film Festival.

Biswal has written more than 100 Sambalpuri plays.
