Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has ordered for closure of Mango Market at Andhapasata Road in the city from Monday for alleged violation of social distancing guidelines.
“It has been observed that even after repeated instructions, shop keepers in the markets are not following guidelines given from lime to time and are not maintaining social distancing and flouting instruction of the Odisha government as well as the district administration to contain the spread of COVID-19,” the order issued on Sunday said.
This assumed significance as Ganjam district has emerged as the corona hotspot in Odisha with 137 positive cases and the administration is taking all steps to check the spread of the virus, which is so far confined to the quarantine centres where migrants are being kept.
