Bhubaneswar: Kalahandi’s famous Thuamul-Rampur Manikeshwari Peeth is set for a major uplift. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Rs 2-crore development project, via virtual mode, here on Friday.
Terming Maa Manikeshwari as the symbol of faith and devotion for lakhs of devotees, the CM said on the occasion that the development of the religious spot would not only enhance the significance of the place but also boost tourism in the region.
“The blessings of Maa Manikeshwari and the efforts of the people have brought transformation in Kalahandi,” Patnaik said.
“Today the farmers of Kalahandi are providing food to the nation. Kalahandi copper is in high demand. Industrialisation has increased opportunities for the youth. Kalahandi University, Government Medical College, Government Engineering College and other such major education institutes have lent a new identity to the youth of Kalahandi,” the CM added.
The CM reiterated that development had always been his priority. This year, he has twice visited Kalahandi to launch several development projects.
Patnaik thanked the people of Kalahandi for their continual support.
