Kolkata: Manipal Health Enterprises is set to acquire AMRI Hospitals, Emami Group’s healthcare business, in a ₹1,800 crore deal. Talks for the acquisition are in final stages.
An announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
AMRI runs four multi-speciality hospitals — three in Kolkata and one in Bhubaneswar.
Over 90 per cent of proceeds from the deal will help Emami’s promoters retire the debt they took for the hospital business as also the debt of AMRI Hospitals.
Emami has been trying to sell AMRI Hospitals since 2018 to focus on its flagship FMCG business. Manipal owns 27 hospitals.
