New Delhi: A Special Cell team of Delhi Police visited Twitter India offices in Delhi and Gurgaon on Monday evening in connection with the ‘manipulated media’ tag case, ANI reported.
The Union government recently took exception to Twitter affixing ‘manipulated media’ tag to tweets by Sambit Patra and some others who accused Congress of making a toolkit created to undermine, derail and demean the efforts of the Government against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology sent a strongly-worded notice to the microblogging platform asking it to drop ‘manipulated media’ tag.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police then sent a letter to Twitter India on the toolkit case.
With Twitter not obliging, they are having to face questions.
“We want to know what information Twitter has about the toolkit and why they chose to give the ‘manipulated media’ label. Our team is conducting raids at their Delhi office in Mehrauli and Gurgaon office on Golf Course Road,” The Indian Express quoted a senior officer as saying.
