New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has set up a 53-member team to probe the Manipur sexual assault case.
Among the big investigating team are two female deputy inspector generals (DIGs) — Lovely Katiyar and Nirmala Devi S, reported Hindustan Times.
CBI, on July 29, took over the investigation into the case in which three women were stripped, paraded naked and assaulted in Manipur on May 4, with one of them gang-raped by a mob.
Other similar videos of gang rape in the ethnic violence-hit north-eastern state have surfaced since then.
A special investigation team of the central agency is already probing six other cases of violence in Manipur and the loot of weapons from state armouries.
Around 160 people have so far lost their lives in ethnic clashes which erupted in early May between Meitei and Kuki communities.
