Bhubaneswar: Constable Prasanna Behera, earlier arrested for allegedly running a bar without a valid licence, violating COVID-19 rules and hatching a criminal conspiracy, has been dismissed from Odisha Police.
The official notice said Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar has dismissed Behera with immediate effect. Eight departmental proceedings and 5 criminal cases are pending against him.
Behera, who was running the South City bar on a lease, was suspended on Friday for keeping the bar operational till late at night. He is also the president of Havildar and Constable Association here.
Hotel South City bar grabbed the crime spotlight post the murder of Manish Anurag, son of a senior journalist in Bhubaneswar, on October 10. He was seen at the bar hours after his body was recovered from a nearby pond at Patrapada the following day.
