The three accused in Manish Anurag murder case
Bhubaneswar: The three accused – Amrit Pritam Biswal, Mrunjaya Mishra and Dinesh Mohapatra – in the Manish Anurag death case arrived at the State Forensic Lab here on Tuesday for the lie detection test.
While Amrit is a friend of Manish. The two others are Amrit’s friends.
The trio was arrested on October 16 on charges of murder and destroying evidence. They allegedly murdered Manish during an altercation over hotel bill payment.
Manish is the son of senior journalist navin Das.
According to police, Amrit called up Manish on October 9 to treat him and his friends at a bachelor’s party. Manish’s wedding was scheduled for November.
They first went to Laxmi Sagar and had food and drinks. They then drove to a bar at Bhagabanpur under Tamando police limits. They had a tiff over the payment of food and drinks following which Manish fell unconscious. To conceal evidence, they pushed him into a pond near Namrakani temple in Bhagabanpur village and fled. His body was fished out of the pond the following afternoon.
Since there were no injury marks on Manish’s body, the exact nature of the assault is still being investigated, police added.
Meanwhile, the bar has been sealed and the constable, Prasanna Behera, who ran it on lease dismissed from Odisha police.
