Manish Sisodia’s Arrest: Security Enhanced As AAP Plans Protest, Check Arvind Kejriwal’s Latest Tweet

New Delhi: While Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is likely to be produced in a special court at 2 pm on Monday, security has been enhanced at headquarters of AAP and CBI in view of a call for protest against his arrest.

The AAP had planned to take out a protest march from its office to that of the BJP on Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg at 12 noon and the party is observing ‘black day’. A traffic advisory was also issued and commuters advised to avoid the DDU Marg in the carriageway from Minto Road towards ITO.

In Bhubaneswar, police stopped Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters at Ram Mandir Square while they taking out rally.

Sisodai was arrested last night after eight-hour grilling in connection with the alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped 2021-22 liquor policy. He has been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to criminal conspiracy and fraud and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Notably, he was not named in three charge sheets in the case even as he is the primary accused in the First Investigation Report.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal again tweeted this morning, saying that “most CBI officers” were against his arrest and were forced to do so, without evidence, because of “political pressure”.

Contrary to police claim, the party further alleged that Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Gopal Rai, who were detained and taken to Fatehpur Beri police station on Sunday after they marched towards the CBI headquarters to protest against the BJP and the agency for arresting Sisodia, were yet to be released.

According to NDTV,  Sisodia was arrested as the investigators felt the need for his custodial interrogation since he was not cooperating in the investigation. He did not give clarifications sought by officials on crucial points despite being confronted with evidence to the contrary.

Another report further added that a digital device seized from Delhi excise department led the CBI to unearth the alleged role of Sisodia in the liquor policy case. He refused to share details when asked about the document, the CBI sources told NDTV.
