New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the efforts of Odisha for its evacuation and rehabilitation measures during Cyclone Amphan.
In his monthly address to the nation ‘Mann Ki Baat’, today, the PM said, “On one hand, we were busy combating Corona pandemic whereas on the other hand, we were recently confronted with a natural camality in certain parts of Eastern India. During the last few weeks, we have seen the havoc wreaked by super cyclone Amphan in Odisha and West Bengal.”
“I went to take stock of the situation last week to Odisha & West Bengal. Courage and bravery with which the people of West Bengal and Odisha have faced the ordeal is commendable,” he said.
Noting how people are contributing in the fight against coronavirus, PM Modi appreciated the efforts made by citizens, citing examples of people in Madurai, Agartala, Punjab, Nasik and also the role played by women’s self help groups in making and distributing masks.
He said that the innovations at this moment of crisis have touched his heart. From villages and cities, from small scale traders to start ups and labs, our countrymen are devising new ways of fighting corona, he said.
