Khurda: After a man’s body was found in a trolley bag inside a forest in Odisha’s Khurda district, police reportedly achieved a breakthrough in the case and held his wife and two others for the alleged murder.
According to sources, the woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing her husband, stuffing his body in the bag and disposing it of in the forest. Her cousin and another person have also been held in connection with the alleged murder.
After the body was recovered in Haripur forest in Nachuni area of the district, the victim was identified as Manoranjan Mohapatra (32). The bag was spotted by locals who informed the police.
Manoranjan, who hailed from Rangpur in Nayagarh district, was staying with his wife in Khurda.
As per preliminary investigation, Manoranjan’s wife engineered the plan to eliminate him with the help of her cousin and another person, sources said, adding that further probe is underway.
The woman was reportedly being harassed and tortured by her husband and she hatched the plot to get rid of him, they said.
The woman was held after police located the shop from where the accused had purchased the trolley bag, which was used to dispose of the body.
