Firecracker factory explosion in Bihar

Patna: A series of explosions ripped through a house where firecrackers were stored in Bihar’s Siwan district.

Several people are feared dead, and some received severe burn injuries, according to media reports. Rescue operations are underway.

According to preliminary information, firecrackers were stored inside the house-cum-firecracker unit of local resident Mohammad Amiruddin Mian, located in Almapur village under the Jamo police station, reported ANI.

A fire broke out, triggering multiple explosions in the house of Amiruddin, a firecracker trader, on Friday afternoon.

There were 10 to 12 people present inside the house when the fire broke out. The flames spread to firecrackers stored on the premises, leading to repeated explosions in the thickly-populated area.

According to Navbharat Times, seven to eight people may have died as the blasts continued intermittently for nearly two hours, triggering panic and chaos in the surrounding area.

Some of the bodies were reportedly severely mutilated, making identification difficult.

Such was the intensity of the explosions that the front portion of the house collapsed, with debris spilling onto the road.
