Bhubaneswar: Normal life at most places in southern and western Odisha districts was affected on Monday following the Chhattisgarh-Odisha bandh call given by the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in protest against the encounter killing of over 50 of its comrades at Gadchiroli in Maharashtra in April this year.
In Nabarangpur district, the ultras have put up posters on the under-construction chariot of Lord Jagannath at Raighar town asking people to support the bandh.
In Kandhamal district, road communication on Baliguda-Daringbadi road was disrupted with tree blockades at Baradikliu of Pattangi block.
In Nuapada district too, the Left-wing extremists blocked the road at Dhagambandha and Bheden areas by felling trees. Similar blockades were reported from Manikera in Mangalpur-Rampur block and Furlijharan in Thuamul-Rampur block of Kalahandi district.
To check subversive activities in these districts, security personnel have launched combing operations.
