Koraput: A Maoist banner, opposing the construction of the a dam over Jhanjhavati river near Chintaguda village, was spotted at Narayanpatna region of Koraput district district on Tuesday
The banner has been put up by Srikakulam committee division of the banned outfit. “River, forest and land is for the tribals. We will not tolerate government’s interference in their life. No work will be allowed here,” the banner read.
The dam is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 140 crore.
While the poster has created panic among people in the region, police and CRPF personnel have launched a combing operation in the area, Koraput SP Abhinav Sonkar informed.
