Rayagada: Security personnel on Thursday busted a Maoist camp inside Karkamarka forest under Ambadala police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district and seized a landmine and several Maoist articles.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of some Maoists inside the forest, a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) began a search operation this morning.
During the search operation, the security personnel seized a landmine and other articles including, medicines, uniforms, umbrellas, water bottles and 10 polythene sheets from the camp. The landmine was later diffused.
Circumstantial evidence suggests that about 10-12 Maoists were staying in the camp.
Following the incident, search operation in the forest has been intensified.
