Maoist Killed In Gunbattle With Security Force In Odisha’s Malkangiri; Jawan Injured

Malkangiri: A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Odisha’s Malkangiri district. A jawan was reported to have sustained injuries in the gunbattle, sources said on Thursday.

As per information, the encounter took place occurred near MV-79 Jindalguda close to Odisha’s border with Chhattisgarh.

After getting information about attempts by a group of naxals to enter Odisha from the neighbouring state, security forces reached the border.

The exchange of fire took place when the security personnel came face to face with the ultras. The gunbattle continued for over two hours during which a Maoist cadre was shot dead, while the others fled the scene.

One of the Jawans sustained bullet injuries and he was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Malkangiri for treatment.

The security personnel have intensified search operations in the area following the encounter.
