Rayagada: A week after setting fire to nine vehicles at a crusher unit in Muniguda, the Maoists have made their presence felt in Odisha’s Rayagada district by releasing some posters on Sunday.
According to sources, the posters and banners of the Maoists were found at Bhurusikhamar square under Muniguda police station in the district, triggering panic among the local people.
In the posters, the banned outfit has called upon the state government to stop the works on laying a road from Serakapadi to Niyamgiri. They alleged that the government had handed over forest land to different companies, depriving the tribals of their livelihood.
The Maoists have threatened the land brokers for exploiting the innocent tribals in the hills of Niyamgiri and Sasubahumali. They also warned of producing the government officials, who opposed the outfit’s call for bandh on May 15, in “Praja Court”.
The posters and banners were signed by Maoists’ Bansadharfa-Ghumusura-Nagabali divisional committee.
It may be noted that the Maoists ransacked property and set afire nine vehicles engaged at a crusher unit near Deokupali under Muniguda police station on June 30. Over a dozen armed ultras, including some women cadres, stormed into the crusher unit and set fire to two poclain machines, five Hyvas and two loaders.
