Phulbani: Maoists allegedly killed a married couple at a village in Gochhapada area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district suspecting the two to be informers of the police.
As per preliminary reports, the incident took place at Kusori village in Salaguda panchayat under the jurisdiction of Goccapada Police Station in district late on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Dahira Kanhar and his wife Batasi Kanhar.
Sources said a group of armed Maoists stormed the village late on Friday night and barged into the house of Kanhar. The ultras took away the couple. The bodies of two were found in a forest near the village on Saturday morning.
On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the site. The red rebels apparently killed the two as they suspected that they were working as police informers.
