Malkangiri: A group of Maoists have abducted two villagers, triggering panic at the tribal-dominated village of Kukurkund village near Mathili in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
According to reports, about 15-20 armed Maoists barged into the village late on Friday night and whisked away Guja Kabasi and Unga Kalamali from their homes.
Earlier on Tuesday, the ultras had taken some villagers from Kukurkund and conducted a praja court at a hill forest near the village. Though the Maoists had released the villagers on Thursday, they again came back on Friday and abducted the two villagers, suspecting them to be police informers.
The families of the abducted villagers are living in fear as their kin are yet to return home.
Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena said police have received information about the abductions and efforts were on to ascertain the reason behind the incident as well as find out the Maoist outfit that conducted the praja court.
