Malkangiri: Maoists swooped down on a CRPF camp in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Malkangiri border on Monday evening.
Informing about the incident, Bijapur ASP Pankaj Shukla said jawans were in the camp when the Maoists opened fire at them at the camp at Dharmagarh under Pamed police station. The exchange of fire between the two Maoists and jawans has been continuing for more than three hours.
The jawans of the 196th Battalion of CRPF also retaliated and are giving a strong fight, the ASP said and added that details are awaited.
It may be mentioned Indigenous people and jawans have been at loggerheads since the camp was set up.
