Koraput: Panic gripped Dandabadi panchayat under Baipariguda police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday as Maoists through some posters ‘awarded’ death penalty to five persons of three villages.
The posters signed by Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border Divisional Committee (MKVBDC) of the CPI (Maoist), accused government officers of indulging in corrupt practices in the name of development in the tribal areas.
Claiming that five persons of three villages under Dandabadi panchayat had colluded with such corrupt officers, the ultras served death threat to them.
The five persons named in the posters are Anand Nayak of Ratakhand village, Pulo Nayak, Lokiram Barik and Suri Barik of Dandabadi village and Kobiraj Kara of Majhiguda village.
Notably, Anand Nayak had a providential escape on April 15 after Maoists opened fire on him.
