Baliguda: Maoists on Wednesday blocked vehicular movements by dumping huge branches of trees at Rodiguma of Kandhamal district to protest police encounter.
Owing to the blockade, the communication on the road connecting Kotpada and Muniguda was disrupted.
In a poster recovered near the spot, the members of Bansadhara Ghumasara nagabali Division of Maoists have condemned the death of Maoists in recent police encounters that had taken place in Sudurkumpa in Kandhamal district and Barakamal in Balangir district.
The ultras, through the poster, warned that such activities of police and the government will not be tolerated anymore.
Receiving information about the matter, police reached the spot, removed the obstructions and restored traffic movement on the road a few hours later.
On Tuesday, the red rebels allegedly murdered a man identified as Jagdish Somrath on suspicion of being an informer of police at Temurapalli village under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district.
According to sources, a group of 15-30 armed Maoists barged into Jagdish’s house, forcibly took him to Katapalli and killed him by slitting his throat.
Later, a poster issued in the name of Kanger Ghati Area Committee of Maoists was found from the spot. The poster warned the villagers of dire consequences, if they pass any information of the Maoist activities to police.
