Maoists Kill Two Villagers In Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: Panic gripped Belghar area in Kandhamal district following the brutal murder of two persons by a group of armed Maoists late on Friday night.

According to sources, the Maoists barged into the Guchhaguda village of Bhandarangi panchayat under Belghar police limits late in the night and dragged Bhabani Patra and Hemant Patra out of their house. Later, they killed them in a secluded place.

The villagers found one body on the outskirts of the village and the other near the Bhandarangi panchayat in the early morning on Saturday and immediately informed the police.

Considering the area where the incident took place, is Maoist-infested, police did not dare to rush to the spot in the night.

Police will arrive at the spot later on Saturday strictly adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP).

Reliable sources said that the Maoists have killed the two persons suspecting them as police informers.

Police suspect the involvement of the Maoists of the Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagavali Division in the double murder.
