Rayagada: Panic gripped Tikarpada village under Ambadola police limits in Rayagada district following the murder of a village warden by a group of armed Maoists on Tuesday night.
The Maoists of Bansadhara-Nagavali-Ghumusar Divisional Committee arrived at the village around 10 pm. They then called out for village warden Santosh Dandasena from his house and shot him dead, on the outskirts of the village.
They left behind two posters warning youths against passing on information to police. “The village warden was warned several times against giving any information to the police, but he disobeyed the order and encouraged some youths of the village to become police informers. If these youths do not tender apology, they will face similar consequences,” it read.
Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation into the incident.
