Malkangiri/Sukma/Dantewada: In yet another barbaric act, the Maoist killed a man on suspicion of being a police informer at Mukaram village in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on Friday night.
Sources said a group of armed ultras barged into the victim’s house and threatened his family members. Later, they dragged him out of his house and slit his throat open killing him on the spot.
Following information, police rushed to the village and seized the body. A poster bearing the name of Kagarmunda Area Committee of the Maoists was also seized from the spot. In the poster, the Red Rebels have warned the people of dire consequences if they are found as police informers.
The family members of the deceased claimed that he had been receiving threats from the Maoists on suspicion of passing information to police.
In another incident, the Maoists torched a drilling machine and some bikes in Pandebar area in Dantewada district in the neighbouring state.
Following the incident, the Chhattisgarh Police and the CRPF personnel have intensified combing operations in the area.
