Bargarh: Panic gripped Salepali village under Paikamal police station limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district following the brutal murder of a youth by a group of armed Maoists late on Saturday night.
Sources said a group of armed Maoists arrived at the village at about 8.30 PM and dragged Bijay Sahu, a local businessman, from his house. Later, they took him to a nearby forest on the outskirts of the village and killed him by slitting this throat open.
Before leaving the village, the ultras left a handwritten poster near the body.
In the poster, the Red Rebels said they killed Bijay Sahu as he had informed the police about the presence of their two cadres who were killed in police encounter in the district on September 27 last year.
However, the police has not said anything about the incident.
Paikamal police on Sunday rushed to the village and took the body of Sahu for post mortem. Some villagers told the police that the Maoists before taking Sahu with them had opened three rounds of black fire to terrorise them.
Meanwhile, CRPF jawans have intensified combing operation in the area to track down the ultras.
