Malkangiri: Heavy exchange of fire continued between the Maoists and the security personnel inside a forest near Jumdang village in Malkangiri district near the Andhra Pradesh border on Tuesday.
According to sources, the security personnel, acting on a tip-off on the movement of some Maoist cadres in the forest near Jumdang village, had launched an operation on Monday night.
However, in the early morning on Tuesday, the Maoists suddenly opened fire at the security personnel who immediately retaliated.
While no casualties reported so far, the exchange of fire continued in the forest area till reports last came in.
