Maoists Release Posters Against Polavaram Project

Malkangiri: Maoist posters opposing the Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram project were found at different places in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district on Friday morning.

The posters bearing the name of Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border Division of Maoists were found pasted on the walls in Gunthabeda, Kurumanur and Dorabeda villages under the block.

Through posters, the ultras said, “The Polavaram project is in no way going to benefit the locals of the area.”

Terming the project as anti-people, they said that it will result in massive displacement of people and demanded immediate withdrawal of the same.

The Red rebels have also warned the village guards working under different police stations in the district of dire consequences, if they pass on any information regarding their activities to the cops.

The posters have been seized by police and combing operations intensified in the area.
