Rayagda: Unleashing fresh terror in Odisha, Maoists ransacked property and set afire nine vehicles engaged at a crusher unit in Muniguda area of Rayagada district.
The incident reportedly took place near Deokupali under the jurisdiction of Muniguda police station late on Friday night.
Preliminary reports said over a dozen armed ultras, including some women cadres, stormed into the crusher unit and set fire to two poclain machines, five Hyvas and two loaders.
After committing the act, the red rebels left behind posters in which they claimed to have carried out the destruction as the crusher units are causing pollution in the area and damaging roads.
The Maoists have also accused the crusher unit owner of exploiting the labourers and warned other crusher units of similar action if they continue such activities.
Following the incident, police personnel rushed to the site to launch an investigation. Further details are awaited.
