Malkangiri: After severe thrashing, the Maoists today released four tribals of Galiaguda village under Mathili police station limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district with a stern warning.
According to reports, a group of 50 armed Maoists had barged into the village in the late night hours 10 days ago and abducted eight tribals. After the trial in the Praja Court at Dandipadar near Tulasipahada, the Red Rebels had released four tribals. However, they detained the remaining four tribals and severely thrashed them.
After detaining them for 10 days, they later released the four tribals with a stern warning and asked them to cooperate and remain with them.
Informing about the incident, one of the victims said the Maoists asked him whether he wants to take the side of the police or remain with them.
“The ultras later released me after I told them to cooperate,” he added.
The incident has triggered panic among the tribals of the village.
Following the incident, combing operation has been intensified in the area to track down the Maoists, reports said.
