Malkangiri: As many as 13 people of two families have deserted Kuruba
village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district on
Saturday night fearing threat to their lives from Maoists.
According to reports, a group of ultras had threatened the family of
Mandra Madhi and Bania Padiami five days back accusing them of being
informers of police.
In a bid to ensure their safety, the villagers have vacated the
village with their belongings and essential items and took shelter at
their family members’ houses. They have also sought police protection.
Following the development, police swung into action and beefed up
security in the locality.
