Bhawanipatna: Amed Maoists allegedly torched seven vehicles and a machine used in road construction at Nuamunda under Madanpur-Rampur police limits, bordering Kalahandi and Kandhamal district, late on Tuesday.
Police sources said around 10-15 armed Maoists arrived at Nuamunda late at night and raided the camp of a local contractor. They were opposing construction of a new road between Urladani and Lahadi under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Later, they set five tractors, two JCB machines and a mixer machine on fire.
Before leaving , the Left-wing extremists left some posters at the spot.
Following the incident, combing operation has been intensified in the area, the sources said.
