Bhubaneswar: Nothing can dim the light that shines from within. The famous quote by Maya Angelou, an American poet and civil rights activist, holds true for the women biker gang of Bhubaneswar, ‘We The Road Queens’.
As a token of gratitude for the contribution made by women during COVID-19 in different capacities, We The Road Queens’ are taking out an all-women’s biking rally on International Women’s Day on March 8 here.
Titled ‘Ride For Our Pride’, the ride will be taken out to celebrate women who have set examples through their work in different capacities during the COVID-19 situation, said Sangeeta Sahoo, founder of the group.
At 8 am on March 8, 12 women bikers will drive motorcycles from Comissionerate Of Police Office till Mahila Cell in Unit-1 via- Jaydev Vihar Square-Acharya Vihar Square- Vani Vihar Square-Rupali Square via Saheed Nagar- Ram Mandir Square- Master Canteen Square-Rajmahal Square. The bikernis will be dressed in white kurti, blue jeans and don an orange turban.
The bike ride will be flagged off by Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi. Club member Rinu Dhakua, who was in news recently for her bravery to chase and bring down mobile snatchers, will be felicitated by the CP on the day.
