Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended the marketing inspector of Thuamul Rampur block in Kalahandi district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000.
According to a Vigilance release, the accused, Sumanta Mallik, had demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant to process his application and that of others for inclusion of their ration cards under ‘Antyodaya Scheme’. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from is possession.
While a case has been registered against him under Section 7 of Prevent of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Mallik to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his unknown sources of income, it added.
