‘Marriage Is Fine, But Dogs Are Better’: Shefali Shah’s Funny Remark Goes Viral

Mumbai: Actor Shefali Shah recently opened up about marriage, relationships and parenthood in a candid conversation, where she shared her perspective and advised young people against rushing into major life commitments.

She also humorously remarked that people should “have dogs” instead of children, saying that dogs provide the most genuine and unconditional kind of love.

Speaking about relationships in a chat with Lilly Singh, Shefali said: “Don’t do it when you are a child, for god’s sake. You don’t even know if you like your elbow or your a**. So calm down. You’ve got to meet people and get to know them before you make that ultimate choice. I keep saying this, if you don’t believe in the institution of marriage, trust me, it’s a lot of work, please don’t do it. It’s not fair to step back.

Be old enough to figure that out.”

When Lilly revealed that she is 37 and still unmarried, Shefali said, “Can I say something? I am going to get so badly trolled. Don’t have children, have dogs. Just get dogs.”

She went on to say that dogs represent the truest form of “unconditional love” a person can experience in life.

Shefali was married to television actor Harsh Chhaya, but the duo parted ways after four years.

She later married filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah in 2000, and the two are parents to two sons, Aryaman and Maurya.

Apart from being an actor and a mother, Shefali is also a passionate animal lover.

She is a pet parent to two Siberian Huskies, Ash and Simba, and frequently shares heartwarming photos and videos featuring them on Instagram.

On the work front, Shefali was last seen in Tanuj Chopra’s ‘Delhi Crime season 3’.

The show also features Huma Qureshi, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta and Mita Vashisht in key roles and is currently streaming on Netflix.
