Cuttack: Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das failed to appear at the office of district sub-registrar (DSR), Cuttack on Tuesday in connection with the objection raised by his former fiancee Somalika Dash to his application for marriage with Pratyusha Nanda.
The district sub-registrar had on November 3 issued notice to the three persons to appear before it after hearing the objection filed by Somalika on October 7 to the application of marriage registration filed by Bijay. In her written complaint, Somalika cited past instances of betrayal and sexual harassment.
Somalika appeared in the office on Tuesday and produced the document asked by the DSR. With Bijay failing to appear, district sub-registrar Gopabandu Parida fixed next date of hearing on November 21. He also directed Somalika to produce witnesses in support of her objection in next hearing.
Somalika had also lodged an FIR against the BJD legislator in Jagatsinghpur police station on October 7, demanding justice in light of the pending case against him. “I am seeking justice for the harassment I endured. Despite the registration of two cases earlier, Das has not been summoned by the police nor called in for questioning,” she alleged.
She had made a series of allegations, including rape, against the MLA after he did not turn up for their wedding at the sub-registrar office in Jagatsinghpur on June 17, 2022.
