Married Man Burns Minor Girl To Death For Repulsing His Advances In Odisha’s Balasore, Arrested

Balasore: Police arrested a married man for allegedly killing a minor girl by setting her on fire after she repulsed his romantic advances in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.

According to reports, the man, identified as Dayanidhi Jena of Baringia village under Khaira police limits had expressed his love towards the girl, a student of Class VIII, when she used to go to her house for taking tuition from his wife. Though the girl did not entertain him and told him to stop soliciting her, Jena persisted with his efforts.

On Sunday morning, while the girl had gone to a shop in the village, Jena forcibly took her to an isolated place. He poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

On being informed about the incident, the girl’s parents rushed to the spot. But by the time they arrived, the girl had charred to death.

Later, they filed a complaint at Khaira police station against Jena. On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested Jena.
