Koraput: In a shocking case reported from Jeypore in Odisha’s Koraput district, a married woman allegedly staged her three-month-old daughter’s abduction after handing the baby to her paramour.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the woman’s husband Paramesh Khemund, Jeypore police have detained the woman and her lover Santosh Tripathy in this connection and questioning the duo.
According to sources, the woman married Paramesh few years back and the duo have two children, one a three-month-old daughter. On Wednesday, the woman informed Paramesh over video call that their daughter has been abducted.
The man suspected his wife’s version and reported the matter to police. Investigation revealed that the woman continued with her relationship post marriage with Santosh who was working as a constable in Balangir.
The duo reportedly were involved in physical relationship, and Santosh used to visit the woman in absence of her husband, said sources. On August 31, Paramesh, a finance company executive left on a tour and a couple of days later, his wife handed the baby girl to Santosh, the police said.
Jeypore Sadar police registered a case and launched a search for the baby girl who was later traced and rescued from Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar.
While investigation is underway ascertain the woman’s motive behind the fake abduction, this case sent shockwaves in Power House Colony of Jeypore, where the couple reside.
