New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has updated its flagship sedan with changes in design and introduction of a new 1.5 liter petrol engine.
The new Ciaz now starts at Rs 8.19 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 10.97 lakhs for the top variant. Apart from the cosmetic changes such as faux wood inserts, rear LED lamps and a new grill, the Ciaz now gets a new 1.5 liter petrol engine mated to a new mild hybrid system that ups the ARAI rated fuel efficiency to 21.56 kmpl.
The Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) was earlier only available in select diesel cars such as the S-Cross and the Ciaz. It essentially has an integrated starter-motor and an extra battery that recovers some brake energy and provides auto start-stop. The new engine produces 104 PS of power.
The new Ciaz is available with an automatic transmission option only on the petrol variant.
The diesel Ciaz retains the same 1.3 liter turbocharged DDiS engine with SHVS producing 91 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. The fuel economy is an impressive 28.09 kmpl.
The new Ciaz also comes with dual airbags, cruise control, hill hold assist, speed alert system and electronic stability program.
Like other Nexa offerings, the new Ciaz also gets a 7” driver info display with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and navigation support. It also has the recently launched ‘Suzuki Connect’ telematics system. There is a display inside the instrument control panel too.
The new Ciaz prices (ex-showroom) are:

The new Ciaz gets two new colors – Magenta and Black. It will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
