Maruti has added a new engine option to its popular premium hatchback. The new 1.2-litre K12C DualJet engine is BS-VI-ready and comes with a Smart Hybrid system as well.
The DualJet engine is available only in Delta and Zeta trims. The Delta is priced at Rs 7.25 lakh and Zeta at Rs 7.86, up Rs 89,000 over the 1.2 KB series engines. The existing 1.2 KB series engine has also been upgraded and the prices have been hiked by Rs 13,000-20,000.
The DualJet Smart Hybrid engine gives 23.87kpl, that is 2.47 kpl more than KB engine (21.4kpl). The new engine has a lithium battery, which stores brake regen energy and helps in start-stop conditions.
At 90hp, the DualJet engine also produces more power, 6hp more than the normal engine. The DualJet is available only with a manual gearbox unlike the KB engine.
Both engines now emit 25 per cent lesser NOx than before, Maruti stated.
