Maruti’s diesel gamble is a tough call. As the Multijet 1.3 litre diesel engine will have to retire following BS6 norms, the company is replacing the Vitarra Brezza’s engine with a petrol one for the first time.
The petrol engine will be the same 1.5-litre as seen in Maruti Ciaz and Ertiga. It produces 105hp power and 138Nm of torque.
While the diesel was available with an automated manual transmission (AMT), the petrol automatic will, however, be available with a more premium torque convertor unit as fitted in the Ciaz.
The Brezza SUV will also have mild-hybrid system.
