Puri: An on-duty traffic constable in Odisha’s Puri had to cough up Rs 2000 fine for not wearing a mask on Tuesday.
This assumes signification as the state is currently observing 14-day Mask Abhiyan to break the COVID-19 infection chain. The government has also doubled the penalty on the offence from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 for the first two violations.
Taking to Twitter, Puri SP Samarth Verma wrote: “We have fined our own traffic constable of Rs 2000 for not wearing a mask. And he, as a responsible citizen has paid.”
