Nabarangpur: A pall of gloom descended on Motigaon under Kosagumuda area of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday as they performed mass funeral of the six workers killed in tipper accident in Malkangiri.
When the bodies of the six labourers reached the village, heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed as the entire area mourned the tragic death of the workers. Family members, relatives and near and dear ones of the deceased were grief-stricken.
Dabugam MLA Manohar Randhari and several other leaders visited the village and paid last respects to the departed workers.
Notably, six labourers were killed and several others critically injured after a cement-laden tipper truck carrying them overturned on Hantalaguda ghat in Malkangiri on Saturday. All the deceased belonged to the village in Kosagumuda area of Nabarangpur
The cement-laden tipper carrying labourers was proceeding to Jodamba from Chitrakonda in the Swabhi9man Anchal when the mishap took place.
Expressing grief over the death of laborers in the road mishap, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased workers. The CM extended his deep sympathies to the bereaved family members.
