Massive Fire At Excise Office Of Odisha’s Keonjhar, Important Documents Gutted

Keonjhar: Valuable documents were reduced to ashes as a massive fire broke out at the Excise Office near Kiriburu Chhak under Barbil police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Wednesday.

According to sources, locals saw thick smoke emanating from the Excise Office building and informed the Fire department in the morning. Barbil police and a team of fire services personnel rushed to the spot.

It took the fire personnel more than an hour to douse the flame as it was massive, sources said. The blaze had spread to several parts of the building.

While no one was reported to have been injured in the incident, several important documents, seized vehicles and other assets have been gutted in the blaze, a senior Excise official told media. However, the actual loss is yet to be evaluated.

Barbil police have begun a probe to ascertain the cause of fire.
