Cuttack: A massive fire broke out in a weekly haat in Niali panchayat under Niali block in Odisha’s Cuttack district late on Saturday.
According to sources, 49 makeshift temporary sheds were reduced to ashes in the fire which took place between 11.30 pm to 12.40 am and the traders incurred losses amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Firefighters were called in around 12.55 am to control the blaze.
The traders alleged that the fire has been a recurring incident for the last few years. A short circuit or some miscreants could be the reason behind the fire, they said and demanded immediate action.
Pramod Behera, husband of the local Sarpanch, said that they would lodge a complaint with police regarding the incident.
