According to sources, some locals spotted the fire in the godown over two floors around 7.50 am and informed the Fire Service department, which then despatched 3 firefighting vehicles to the spot. While the fire on the ground floor has been contained, the blaze in three rooms on the upper floor was yet to doused till filing of the report.
The locals had also attempted to douse the flames by breaking the windows and spraying waters. Sanitisers inside the godown reportedly led to the rapid spreading of the fire in the building.
