Malkangiri: Bonda ghati in Malkangiri district remained cut off from other parts of the state after a massive landslide snapped road communication in the region following incessant rain since last 24 hours.

As a result, several vehicles were stranded for several hours on the stretch.

“On receiving information about the landslide, a joint team of Mudulipada police and fire personnel from Khairaput was pressed into service to clear the road. A large number of tree branches have been cleared. Vehicular movement on the route has also been restored,” informed Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena.

On the other hand, rainwater has entered houses situated in the low-lying areas near Bonda ghati.

Similarly, road communication between Kalimela and Malkangiri has been disrupted with rainwater flowing at a height of 2 feet over the Kangurakunda bridge in the district, owing to heavy rain.
