New Delhi: There was an overwhelming surge of devotees on Tuesday, a day after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla idol at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Given the massive turnout of devotees, the authorities in Ayodhya have imposed an immediate halt on all incoming vehicles.

The unexpected surge of devotees prompted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to assess the situation via live-streaming from Lucknow. Observing the massive crowd, the Chief Minister decided to restrict further pilgrim arrivals in Ayodhya, India Today reported.

A meeting was held on the situation in Ayodhya following which the authorities decided to impose a ban on all vehicles bound for Ayodhya for the next few days. All online bookings made for these vehicles have been cancelled, and refunds for bus fares of pilgrims are to be processed promptly.

Around 5 lakh devotees braved the harsh winters to turn up at the temple yesterday. Only 3 lakh of them could offer prayers while the rest kept waiting for their turn, according to officials.

Around 8,000 security personnel from the Uttar Pradesh police, Rapid Action Force (RAF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) are deployed at the temple. Eight magistrates are in charge of different spots in the temple, NDTV reported.

Praveen Kumar, Inspector-General of Police Ayodhya, has urged people not to hurry and schedule their visit after two weeks.

Post a comment“The crowd is nonstop but preparations are complete. We appeal to the old and Divyang people to schedule their visit after two weeks. I want to appeal to the people that there’s no need to hurry for Darshan. The temple will be opened for everyone with better preparations,” he told news agency ANI.
